What is salesforce lighting exactly ,seems bit confusive .Can anyone guide me properly when to go for lighting and how to start learning to develope lighting component?

Hi Gopal,
Salesforce is revamping its user interface design as initiative to become device independent platform. Same page should work and resize for Desktop browser , mobile browsers or tablets. Other than user interface, Salesforce has made many changes on platfiorm to give more power to admins and perform more with point and clicks, tools like Process builder and Lightning connect are one of those. You can go through this Trailhead module (https://developer.salesforce.com/trailhead/trail/lex_dev) to learn more about lightning.

 Thanks for letting me know about salesforce lighting.Now I have created a new developer edition and try to create a new Lighting Application but     unable to do that .Can u guide me how to proceed so that i can develope lighting application .
