Anyone have a solution for populating a Lead or Contact field that has last campaign a lead attended

Looking to append the last campaign someone attended to a field on a lead or contact.  Sales team wants to be able to view what the last interaction was via their lead reports

I think a trigger on Campaign Memeber will do this. As a new Member is created ( In case for confirming attendence there is a field then confirm based on that ) update the contact and lead for the campaign.
