Log on to dev environment from trailhead.

Some of trailhead exersizes require login to development environment.  However when I click the button it had https:\\login.salesforce.com and it will not take my dev environment login.  Normally I go to https:\\test.salesforce.com\  to login into developer environment.  There are sometimes i use the instance name.  I was wondering how to change thr url that it opens up to on trail head.   When I try to overtype the url for loging it is locked from editing

It's asking you to log into a "Developer Org", which is a special org that you use for messing around with code, workflows, etc.  When you sign up for a free DE org, such as for trailhead, it's typically a "Developer Org".  These organizations typically aren't tied to your company, and are your personal sandbox of sorts. DE orgs are always through login.salesforce.com and NOT test.salesforce.com.  If you're on test.salesforce.com, you're likely on a sandbox environment (probably of your employer).

Instead, I would suggest you sign up for a new DE org here: https://developer.salesforce.com/signup?d=70130000000lcfw (https://developer.salesforce.com/signup?d=70130000000lcfw).  This way, when you expirement with Trailhead, it stays completely separate of any professional / employer related accounts.

Actually, use this link instead: https://developer.salesforce.com/signup (the one i posted might pre-populate the form with my info..:P)
