Unable to change field so it's note required

I've read through a lot of the infomation and posts, but am still unable to change a required field so it isn't required. The check box is greyed out. It is a standard field.

What is the field name? where are you trying to make the change? If the field set as required in the profile level, then you can't uncheck the required box in the page layout
