Yes you can use standardcontroller vf page .
But first You need to set the object permission .
Develop ---> Site --> click the name in  the "SITE LABEL" Column --> Click "Public access setting" button -->Click "Edit" Button --> Scroll Down to "Standard Object Permissions" section.  
and give the desired persion to view the standard controller page in SITE .
