User added to "Standard User" doesn't see "Lightning Experience"

In developer org I see "Lightning Experience User" checked for the "Standard User" profile. I added a new user to this profile. When the user logs in Lightning Experience does not seem to be present. It should show in the dropdown under the user's name. Other than linking the user to the "Standard User" profile, is there anything else I need to do to allow this user to switch to the interface?
