Why are custom fields not syncing from a lead to an existing contact when converted?

Hello, 
When we try to convert a lead to an existing contact in Salesforce, custom fields that have been checked on the lead record are not syncing across to the salesforce contact. This has worked previously. All of my fields are mapped correctly. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hi Olivera,

Standard Lead will get mapped to contact record automatically. Are you pointing to custom fields?

Hi Olivera,

Thanks for confirming, yes in case of Custom fields we need write custom logic to populate values while coverting.
