How can we detect and mask unwanted credit card number sent into sfdc?

Service cloud web to case and email to case. Customers will sometimes send full credit card data.  This is then stored on sfdc and is a compliance issue.  Has anyone built a solution to remedy this?

Is this coming in as the email body?  A partial solution would be to create an encrypted text field to map the credit card number (from the web-to-case at least) that way the numbers/characters are hidden when mapped to the field in Salesforce.

We built an app for this exact use case called DataMask which is now available at https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000ErAUSUA3.  We offer a free trial of real time masking as well as the ability to scan your instance to determine how pervasive your credit card and/or other sensitive data storage is.
