I am reviewing Platform Events for an upcoming project and based on my understanding of how High Volume events work I know it to be true that "publishing" them actually in effect simply queues them to be published. That is, publishing is an asynchronous action. Previously, with the now deprecated Standard Volume events it was a serial operation and publishing failures could be made immediately available to the publisher.

The documentation concedes that a failure might occur after a successful queueing of an event, but it does not give any reason or explanation for why this might happen. It even references an in-beta feature for subscribing to a dedicated channel to receive these events (which apparently is no longer available for new orgs).

My question is pretty straight-forward: In what circumstances might event successfully be queued but fail to ultimately be published? 
I need to set up a field in a custom object that we have called Sample Received. I already know that I can lookup and account based on the name, but I need to be able to look upi the account based on the auto number that was given to the account upon creation. Is taht possible and what would be the best formula to use?

Id can be on 15 or 18 digits.

If i delete the last 3 characters from my 18 digits id, will i always get the 15 digits id.

l need to put in place a workflow that simply sends a reminder email to a task owner on tha task due date.

I've tried to find a step by step up to date tutorial to do that on Lightning or Salesforce Classic but have only found https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cofjF2e9Yt where, unfortunately, the interface and the steps don't seem to transpose in the new interface.

Does anyone has the right tutorial please?

I'm working through the Subscribe to Event Channel (https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/change-data-capture/subscribe-to-events) trailhead, and getting the error: 

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid channel id: C:/Program Files/Git/data/Employee__ChangeEvent 

I'm attempting to execute:

$ java -jar target/emp-connector-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT-phat.jar doug.vanderbilt.kingdom@gmail.com lakeray2020! /data/Employee__ChangeEvent

I've been through all the help resources but I can't seem to figure out how to trouble shoot this particular error.

Any ideas?

Trying to get some help on a validation rule that has me stuck. What I'm trying to do is only allow an update to the Shipping Address, but only limited to three different profiles, and if a certain value is in the pick list. The code below is what I have so far.

Hi All,

when creating HTML templates I try to bring in pictures in my FIles.   The pictures are large, but in the HTML source of the template i adjust the size atribute to where i want it to be, and the template displays properly in the email preview.  Then when i send the template, it is recieved in the source file sizing (the images are giant).  How do I get the images to be recieved the same as they are displayed in the template.

I'm trying to take the trailhead challenge for Creating account page layouts and getting an error message: "Ensure the new sections have been added to the Customer Account Layout and that the Customer Account Layout has been assigned to Customer Account column."


I followed the instructions, and the only thing that seems slightly amiss is that the "do not call" checkbox does show up on the page layout when editing, however when I preview as a sales user it's not there. I went into profiles and saw that sales user has the visible and read boxes unchecked for "do not call" so I checked them off. It's now showing up in the preview (although it's unchecked in the preview but  checked off in the edit layout area), but still getting the same error message.

The only other weird thing is that I was unable to drag the "opportunities" section above the "contacts" section, but was able to do it the other way around so that opportunities is above contacts.

 

I've worked in a lot of SF orgs, but I have never seen this behavior before.  

Generally, when I open/reload the Developer Console, the window is reloaded as-is. Meaning any tabs that I had open, SOQL query history, anonymous apex code, etc. is still present.

For some reason, with my current org (and sandboxes) this is not the case. If tabs load, they are old classes that I have not looked at in weeks. I cant see recent SOQL queries in the Query Editor tab, and the Anonymous Apex window contains a script that was run weeks ago (when others have since been run)

This means that if I have 3 classes open in Developer Console, I push from sfdx, and hit refresh, I have to go and find/reopen those classes.

Seems like some kind of browser cache or memory issue, but any insight would be helpful.  Thanks in advance.

Dear All,

after refreshing our full sandbox we noticed the following issue. We are using CPQ to create quotes. We have a button called "Preview Document". This brings us to a page where we can select the template. 

When we select any of the template, and press "Preview" we see the following error message:

core.apexpages.exceptions.ApexPagesGenericException: No Visualforce context has been established!

User-added imageI've never seen that error message before. Where can I look at?

We are in the project development phase and we need to delete our product data from a new sync with the product cataloge. We need archived products deleted as the external id is the same. No other data now links to the archived products. I beleive the salesforce development team can execute a script to do this. Salesfroce Support asked me to raise the case on Developor Forum as we not a premium partner.
Two date picker, Start Date and End Date.
End date should always be more than or equal to start date.
Once I select Start date is
     Ex :- 05-06-2020 
Then End Date should be 
     Ex :- 05-06-2020 OR 08-06-2020..........
In End Date picker before 05-06-2020 dates are disable.

I have created my first couple of external services but I am having issues trying to figure out how to capture error responses from the API I am calling. I have registered my external service, setup my named credential, and made sure salesforce had the url setup in remote sites. I setup a flow to call the generated apex class from my swagger json definition and it works great, when the API returns a successful HTTP 200 status.

Currently one of my services is not working and I can't get anymore information. My guess is the endpoint is not reachable based on my companies firewall but the only message I get when I run debug in flow is below.

Error Occurred: Callout failed: null

TLDR: Where or How can I see the actual response or status from the external service call? Let me know if there are any other details you need me to provide, I am still fairly new to SF dev.

I am able to fire an event even without using aura:registerEvent tag. In which scenarios do we need to use this tag?

Hey team,

Working on a scheduled Flow. Pretty simple. 

Starts by grabbing all open opps.

It then loops through all close won opps that were closed within a year--and whose account is the same account located on the opp currently within $record.id.

It counts those up, and then makes a decision based on the number of opps, and updates the opp currently in the flow.

What's strange is I get a bunch of those lock row errors, but the IDs it mentions are the Account IDs... not the Opportunity IDs. But I never update the Account in this flow. 

Any ideas?

How can we retrieve and/or load the CPQ package configurations after installation (I'm talking about the values in Package installed - Settings)?
